Hey Bilkenter! School is tiring (see: a song to listen to while reading this post), yes, but we all deserve a break. Don't graduate from here without enjoying the campus, which you will miss very much in the future due to classes, homework, and exams. Our minds are still on the events we missed! We are leaving Bilkent with incredibly beautiful memories that we will remember together for years to come. We have listed for you the most beautiful events of Bilkent that we love the most and that we would regret leaving here if we had missed them, so that you don't leave without making lots of memories with your friends 1. Join Bilkent's Biggest Festival: Mayfest! How can a university go without festivals? For those who don't know, Mayfest is the name of the spring festival that takes place every year at Bilkent University. Moreover, this festival gave its name to the most crowded and most beautiful grass area of the school. This festival, which takes place in mid-May, lasts for 2 days, Saturday and Sunday. There is only a short time left for finals and midterms and homework are still going on, but that weekend will definitely be reserved for the festival. Everything is completed in advance, or classes are completed by noon, and then the festival starts from there. You grab your chair or blanket and enjoy the grass until the evening. While DJ performances accompany the conversations and dancing, there are people playing volleyball in another corner. There are long queues in front of the food stands and award-winning competitions. The sun is up, your most loved friends are with you. A concert of an artist determined by votes takes place at Bilkent Odeon at 20.00 in the evening. As a duo that has never missed a Mayfest concert, we have a few suggestions for you:
FUN 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 LONGING 😻 😻 😻 😻 😻 2. Let's Be a Little Elite: Go to BSO's Concerts! BSO, for those who do not know, Bilkent Symphony Orchestra is a special orchestra that offers a musical feast to everyone with its concerts that attract not only in Bilkenters but also many Ankara residents. Their concerts are held at Bilkent University Faculty of Music and Performing Arts in the winter months and at Bilkent University Odeon in the spring months. What awaits you at these concerts is an incredible orchestra accompanied by a magical atmosphere... When you enter the hall, you feel that something will soon happen that will take you from this world and drag you to other worlds. That beautiful journey begins as soon as that first note is heard. Where do you think the violin's soul-caressing and the cello's powerful but delicate tone will take you? We, two close friends, went on many journeys with BSO during the 5 years we spent at Bilkent. So, as little BSO fans, we highly recommend you go to at least one BSO concert every year. Among these concerts, the Film Music Concert held at Odeon was our favorite. While listening to the music of our favorite movies live from a large orchestra, it was a fascinating experience to watch sections of the movies on the installed screens! So, Bilkenter, don't forget to add this concert to your to-do list so you don't miss it! Click here for information about current programs and to purchase tickets. FUN 🥳 🥳 LONGING 😻 😻 😻 3. Don't forget to have an enjoyable evening at the Open Air Cinema! You've left class, the weather is fresh! It is very difficult to return home and study in this weather, you say, "I wish I could sit outside and relax." At that moment, the open-air cinema event organized by Radyo Bilkent on the Mayfest area becomes a savior. It usually happens at the beginning of the fall semester and at the end of the spring semester, when the weather is nice. A beautiful stage is set up at Mayfest, and you choose enjoyable films by voting, which is sent to your e-mail in advance. When you arrive at the screening, after playing a little bit of musical chairs (!), you settle into a nice spot in front of the curtain. There is no ticket, no seat number, you can sit wherever your heart desires. Whether you bring something from home, or grab your popcorn from the buffet that is open throughout the cinema if you would like. Enjoy the movie in the fresh air, leave yourself an unforgettable memory in Bilkent. PS: Let us warn you, it is much more crowded than you think. Last time we went all the way to MSSF, go at least half an hour in advance so you don't have to play musical chairs ;) FUN 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 LONGING 😻 😻 😻 😻 4. Experience the Republic Day Enthusiasm in Bilkent: Traditional Bilkent Republic Day Run Bilkent Education and Sports Center (BESC), which proceeds with its philosophy “Sports is life.”, organizes the Republic Run every year around October 29th. Many Bilkenters from all ages come together to celebrate our Republic. Although the route varies, nearly 1900 meters are run every year. This year, 1923 meters were run to commemorate the founding year of our Republic. Don't mind what I said was run, after a while the slopes of Bilkent were no longer run, but walked (we just walked). Those who reach the finish line first are given various prizes, such as t-shirts, cups and medals, which will remain as memories after graduation. The awards are presented to their owners in a small ceremony accompanied by anthems. This year's awards were medals and cups. We took our finishing numbers as a memory:') Don't forget to check the announcements about the race on the BESC website and in your e-mails. To participate, all you have to do is get your number from sports centers and be a sports enthusiast. This race is an unmissable opportunity for those who want to both celebrate our Republic and create a beautiful memory in Bilkent!

Hello! We are two friends who are about to graduate from Bilkent, who are getting ready to leave the difficulties of this school behind, but who do not feel ready for this farewell; Misra and Sena ^-^.
We write this blog both to leave a memory for ourselves and for Bilkenters or those who are curious about Bilkent. As two photography enthusiasts, we can't wait to share the photos we took in Bilkent with you! We are sure that as Bilkent students, there are many things we all want to do before graduation. We wanted to collect memories that we can look back on before we graduate. We will not only have our own memories, but we will also listen to the Bilkent journey of many Bilkenters and graduates. In this blog, you will find many things about Bilkent and you will also accompany the graduation journey of two close friends. In this way, we will introduce Bilkent to those who are interested and satisfy the longing of some. As we say goodbye to Bilkent, we will leave our memories behind. PS: Don't be fooled by the fact that most of what we share is positive! After all, we are sad to graduate, we just want to remember the good things! If you feel sad, please do not light a cigarette because this place is within the borders of Bilkent, meaning "No smoking area" PS 2: Don't forget to listen to the songs we listened to while writing our posts while you read them! |
